Sheffield Steelers - Woodhouse Florist Woman of the Week (WOW).
Sheffield Chamber member’s Abbeydale Woodhouse Florist and Ice Hockey champions Sheffield Steelers have recently teamed up to ensure one fan has a truly special match day experience.
Nominations were sought from fans at the recent Steelers
game versus Nottingham Panthers to identify the first ever
Woodhouse Florist Woman of the Week (WOW).
Supporters were asked to provide names of potential worthy winners and the reason for the nomination to the Steelers desk on the concourse at the Arena, the response in the words of the Steelers Operations Manager Andy Turner was “mad!!”
The special lady chosen from the dozens of submissions was Linda Stone. Linda is actually one of the Steelers volunteers that help sell 50/50 tickets and was nominated by many fans. “Linda is very popular, our best seller by a long way and went through a few health problems a few years ago. Linda is ever present, and even spends money herself to bring sweets in for any children that she sees on the concourse, a very worthy first Woodhouse Woman of the Week!!” added Andy.
Darrell Johnson, new owner at Woodhouse Florist was
delighted with the response to the first WOW initiative and
stated “we are aiming to carry out a number of presentations
in the remaining Steelers fixtures this season, to make
someone’s match day even more memorable”.
